Bearkat Chalets - Course side development at Redstone

83 years of history at Redstone!
Today’s championship Les Furber designed alpine course shares a rich history that spans generations in the West Kootenay’s.  Originally a 9 hole course, owned, operated and constructed by Teck Cominco Metals Ltd. in 1927, the old Rossland course (as it was then known) was legendary for its’ side hill lies, postage stamp size, challenging greens, and one of Canada’s only elevated Par 3’s with a rope tow!

The course, historic log clubhouse and surrounding 550 acre parcel of land was purchased by the Redstone development team from Teck (formerly Teck Cominco Metals Ltd.) in 2004, who then hired renowned golf course architect Les Furber to convert the historic 9 hole “Rossland course” into the championship 18 hole, 6863 Par 72 that you see here today!  And while the stately  feel of the original 9 was preserved with its’ giant Willows and towering pines, the new 18 hole course is a mere shadow if its’ former self.

What you can expect today!
Redstone’s dramatic setting and championship design offer a number of elevated tee’s which feature stunning ridgeline and mountain views, affording all levels of golfer rewarding and challenging play, while being able to visually assess what lies ahead. The course is one of the most scenic in Western Canada, with driving range and a full service restaurant, and Pro Shop housed in the historic clubhouse; and has already attracted the attention of the BCPGA (British Columbia Professional Golf Association) for hosting some of the provinces top ProAM  (Professional /Amateur) tournaments.
